Today tip will help you to increase the list of recently used documents in start menu. By default windows XP display the history of last fifteen programs on recent documents list in start menu but you can increase this list according to your need. Follow the given steps for configuration to increase the list of recently opened documents:

To edit the computer registry, first you should log onto your computer with administrative rights.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

Now in left side panel, click right to create a new Key value with the name Explorer under "Policies" area.

Now explore the full path like:
Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer



Now in right side panel, click right to create a new DWORD value with the name MaxRecentDocs and then set values with your required input value.



In this case, we are trying to set input value to 30 and press Ok button.



But next time, if you want to disable this functionality then simply change the value of data box to 15 or delete the MaxRecentDocs DWORD item.

Now close the registry editor and restart your computer after any changes to go into effect.

Now I'm going to show how to send a message from one computer to another computer in dos command and how to create a mini messenger software in notepad.

Requirement: one or more systems are connected by local area networks (LAN).

First step is enabling your messenger service in both systems. Follow given steps are enabling messenger service on your machine.

Click Start >Settings>Control panel>Administrative tools>Services>select Messenger option>Right click Messenger go to the Properties



change start up option to Automatic >click Apply



Click Start button


After finished loading click Apply and Ok

Now go Start> Run> type CMD

Type net send “ip_address” or “computer name” “message” hit enter

Dos tricks How to hide system drives using dos command

Now I am going to show how to hide drives without any software, it’s possible to invisible DVD, Floppy, and CD drive also.

Simply follow these steps.

Step-1: Click>START>RUN>type CMD and hit enter.
Now DOS window will appear on your screen
Now type DISKPART and hit enter, now your window is like below.


Step-2: Now type LIST VOLUME and hit enter, now your drives are listed like below.


Step-3: Now type SELECT VOLUME followed by the numerical value of that drive and hit enter; now your assumption volume is selected.

Example cmd: DISKPART > SELECT VOLUME 3
3 is my assumption drive, see below image.



Step-4: Now type REMOVE LETTER what letter you want to remove and hit enter, your assumption drive is invisible successfully now.

Example cmd: DISKPART > REMOVE LETTER E
E is my assumption drive, see below image.


now your assumption drive is invisible successfully.

How to make it visible again?
Select the drive volume you want it to make visible,
Here we hided the drive E in our previous steps, so these steps makes you to visible the drive E again.
Type >DISKPART hit enter
DISKPART> SELECT VOLUME 3 hit enter
Now your volume is selected, type the command as below
DISKPART > ASSIGN LETTER E hit enter
Now your drive is visible, see below image.
