HYDERABAD: Writing the annual examinations to save the academic year was favoured by the student representatives from all the universities in Telangana region who met at the Osmania University on Friday.
The OU JAC leaders Pulla Rao Yadav and Marri Anil said that majority students spoke in favour of writing the examinations as it would also help them stay on the campus and continue their agitation apart from saving the academic year. They felt that if examinations were boycotted they would lose admissions and have to vacate the hostels as per the rules. This would severely hamper the movement taken up by the students. They said a few wanted the boycott of exams to build up pressure. However, the discussions would continue on Saturday and a final decision would be taken.
The meeting also discussed the issue of keeping the movement peaceful to sustain it on a long term basis.
Mr. Pulla Rao Yadav said the need to educate people in villages and create awareness across all sections was also discussed. As a part of this a padayatra or a bus yatra would be planned soon. Boycott of exams not want opt favour ed on agenda
Meanwhile, some organisations expressed their displeasure for not giving them enough importance on the Vidyarthi Garjana platform. The meeting felt that there should not be divisions on such small issues and decided to take everyone along in the agitation. Marri Anil, JAC member said the issue was small and their opinions were taken positively.
The students also decided to post one crore letters to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh seeking a separate State. A box has been put up at the University for students and others to post letters. A student leader claimed that the response was good on the first day.
