The Central Government has decided to create two new Institutions devoted to science education and research to be named Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and located in Kolkata and Pune. The academic programme will be divided into semesters. Students will have the choice of courses for specialization in one or more disciplines of basic sciences based on a flexible credit system.
