Anantapur: A high-powered committee deputed by the UGC is visiting the JNTUhere on December 29 on a two-day verification mission to ascertain the eligibility criterion for obtaining the 12B status which facilitates flow of funds for development as well as for UGC sponsorship of schemes and programmes, said Prof. B. Krishna Gandhi, Vice-Chancellor, JNTU .
Addressing a press conference at his chambers here on Monday, Mr. Gandhi said that the university has the eligibility for receipt of the 12 B status, which is a sort of rating on the infrastructure and facilities front. The university has more than the minimum required strength of teaching faculty. The sanctioned strength of the university is 196 professors and assistant professors etc with 136 at Anantapur JNTU and 60 at Pulivendla in Kadapa.
The 8-member UGC team under the chairmanship of Prof. K.K. Agarwal, former Vice-Chancellor of Delhi-based Indra Prashta University, is arriving here on Tuesday. During the two days the team will interact with the Vice-Chancellor and also inspect facilities in Pulivendla Information Technology college and Oil Research and Technology Institute at Anantapur.
Mr. Gandhi and Registrar Vijay Kumar will present a power point programme on the facilities and the progress achieved in the development of the university. The university is a boon to the students of five districts namely Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur and to over 500 engineering and pharmacy colleges in the region.
